The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Macau International Airport Company Ltd. (CAM) - Mr. Deng Jun, Executive Director - Ms. Liu Suning, and Acting Director of Marketing - Mr. Eric Fong, paid a courtesy visit to theHong Kong Airport Authority on 4th February 2010, and were warmly welcomed by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Hui HanZhong and others.
Mr. Stanley Hui – Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Airport Authority, on behalf of the company, expressed welcome and gratitude for Macau International Airport’s visit. He introduced the performance of HKAA, in which recorded 46 million of passengers and over 300,000 flight movements last year. He also mentioned that, since last March, A5 had reached consensus in six aspects including the development positioning and expanding of the Pearl River Delta airspace. In order to maintain Hong Kong International Airport as an international hub, Hong Kong airport is now preparing to establish the third runway to expand the passenger capacity, after the completion of the project, passenger volume is estimated to reach up to 80 million. In addition, Mr. Hui expressed that A5 have defined our own positions, beneficial for airports of Hong Kong and Macao to elaborate their respective advantages for the economic development of Greater Pearl River Delta regional.
The Chairman of CAM board of Directors Dr. Deng Jun not only introduced the situation of MIA traffic in 2009, he also pointed out the future developing direction of Macau International Airport, which is to implement the strategic objective of "virtual airport" with all strength, fully utilize scientific knowledge and IT information technology, through setting up the online commercial platform, information platform, without restrictions of natural conditions such as space areas, increase the value-added service chain of MIA, and better serve the community and expand the airport’s revenue. Beside, MIA will adjust the incentive policy and increase supporting the local airlines, we will also strive to open up new markets and attract more airlines to operate in MIA. Dr. Deng also emphasized that although facing the drastic decrease of business revenues in 2009, MIA did not abandon the investment in facilities and equipments. In the future, MIA will strengthen for the improvement and expansion of infrastructure construction, and keep on improving runway safety standard, and complete all projects of the CNS system, to construct Macau International Airport as “the sample of small-medium sized multi-functional international airport", and persist in pursuing “Safety, Efficiency and Effectiveness” as core values and goals, to match up the development goals of Macau government as "International tourism and leisure center"
Finally, both sides agreed to strengthen intercourse and cooperation closely in the future. Make joint efforts to prosper the economic development of Greater PRD regional
